Album Review - Katatonia - Night is the New Day

"Night is the New Day" is the latest album from Swedish band Katatonia. For those who don't know who they are, they were formed in Stockholm in 1991. In the beginning they were a doom/death metal act ,but nowadays they're an alternative metal band.
Katatonia's most recent album is a piece of art, not just for the fans, but for all the music listeners out there. They're indeed a metal band, but you should not expect screams, or gutural voices, they're just as melodic as there is.
The first song of the album is called "Forsaken", and it shows the true power of the band. The instrumental make us feel something deep, and the voice of the lead singer, Jonas Renkse, sounds perfect! "Forsaken" is that type of songs that will remain in your head for a long time.
"The longest year" is the second track of this perfect album, and it sounds even greater than the first one. It is impossible not to be amazed by the voice of the lead singer, that conduct us to heaven. The instruments give us the rest of the musical scenario, the path to heaven.
I hardly have words for the third track, "Idle Blood", because it is near perfection.
It is difficult for me not to refer all songs, because all songs are amazing, from the voice to the instruments. I have to refer "Inheritance" and "Day and Then the Shade" and particularly "Departer", as the best songs.
Katatonia have made an incredible album, that will be presented in Portugal on the 26th and 27th of November, in Lisbon(Almada) and Porto.
If you like good music, a band that will shake your heart and give you something more, you've got to attend the concert!
